Studeerde van 1968 tot 1974 aan de Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten te Rotterdam.

Al decennia lang overwintert een groep Flamingo's in de Zeeuwse wateren.
Deze kolonie broedt net over de grens in Duitsland, bij Groenlo in de Zwillbrocker Venn.
Een inspiratiebron om een serie schilderijen te maken, mét Flamingo's.
It's Falamingo Time!
For decades, a group of Flamingos have been hibernating in the waters of Zeeland in the Netherlands.This colony breeds just across the border in Germany, near Groenlo in the Zwillbrocker Venn.
After the breeding season, between October and April, the Flamingos can be found in the Netherlands. In the Lauwersmeer, the IJsselmeer, but also in the province Zeeland.

Vanaf het jaar 2000 werkt Kees van de Wetering aan een serie bijzondere kunstwerken met Flamingo's als thema. Dit is het eerste Flamingo schilderij.
From the year 2000, Kees van de Wetering has been working on a series of special works of art with Flamingos as a theme. This is the first Flamingo painting.
Een grote interieurwinkel in Zeeland heeft van dit schilderij een metershoge vitrage laten maken en in de verkoop genomen.
Een collectors item dat snel uitverkocht was.
Het schilderij is opgebouwd uit meerdere lagen en heeft een korrelige ruwe structuur wat het een bijzondere uitstraling geeft.

FRAGMATIC ART
De schilderijen van Kees van de Wetering komen voort uit het idee om het onderwerp te vertalen in beeld- en kleurvlakken. Door vooraf te schetsen met potlood en kleurpotlood ontstaat het werk, dat zich kenmerkt doorvormen die speels verspringen en elkaar aanvullen.
Een groot aantal werken, van tekening tot aquarel en vervolgens schilderijen met acrylverf, ontstaan in een vloeiende beweging.
Kees van de Wetering creëert uit de primaire kleuren zijn eigen kleurenpalet.
Kees van de Wetering's paintings stem from the idea of translating the subject into image and color planes. By sketching in advance with pencil and colored pencil, the work is created, which is characterized by shapes that jump playfully and complement each other.
A large number of works, from drawing to watercolor and then paintings with acrylic paint, are created in a fluid movement.
Kees van de Wetering creates his own color palette from the primary colours.

Fresco
De techniek van een fresco-muurschildering in opdracht
in Zwitserland was de aanleiding voor deze grote doeken met Flamingo's als onderwerp.
In één laag geschilderd met zeer dunne acrylverf en fijne penseelstreken, resulterend in monumentale schilderijen met een mooi contrast tussen licht en donker.
The technique of a commissioned fresco mural in Switzerland was the reason for these large canvases with flamingos as the subject. Painted in one layer with very thin acrylic paint and fine brush strokes, resulting in monumental paintings with a beautiful contrast between light and dark.
